On The Lot with John and Rita Little

(The Little's)(Date: 9/24/10) September of 2010 was exciting for us here at MCD. Why? Because we were holding the first dealer training session in our new facility on North McDonald Street in McKinney, Texas. The MCD Campus has a great multimedia room with comfortable chairs, desks and the capability of using a rear screen projector and screen for training presentations. It’s a great place to teach MCD shade installation.

John and Rita came to MCD for new cockpit shades and John was enrolled in the dealer training seminars. He helps with installation at a company in Indiana called From Trees to These, Inc.  John wanted shades for his own coach, so he thought this would be an ideal time to get them installed and learn by doing. He selected MCD because of the shade “quality and function”.

The Little’s are experienced travelers with 35 years of travel on various motorcycles. They then decided that being full time RVers would be the best way to see our country. They still carry their motorcycle with them on a lift attached to the rear of the coach.

John and Rita said, “Our favorite destination is the next place we haven’t seen!” They also like the mountains. They chose their American Eagle for quality, drive-ability, load carrying capacity and function.

After meeting John, we knew he was a storyteller. He said he wished he had time to tell us all of his stories. He said, “Look for my future book on this subject!” Of course we don’t know if he was serious or just telling us another story!! John also said, “As full timers we winter over where it’s cold and snowy cause we love campfires!” Another “story” John?

Rita commented, “Everyone at MCD made us feel like we were at home. (MCD) is a very gracious host”! We were glad to meet you both and hope to see you again as you travel this big country of ours. Thanks for joining us on the lot and good luck installing MCD Day/Night Shades!

On The Lot with Ken and Barbara Longeway

The Longeways)(Date: 9/17/10) When looking to upgrade an RV, many people do a lot of research to find what they want and get opinions from people that already have those items installed in their “house on the road”. Ken and Barbara did their research on shades, and by talking to folks that had MCD American Duo™ shades and finding out what those people thought of the product, they made their own decision to make the purchase. Ken said, “MCD has the best quality product!”

So the Longeways brought their 2004 Country Coach Intrigue motorcoach to the MCD factory for a retrofit from pleated shades to the MCD roller shades. While here, they decided to not only get the American Duo™ shades in the house portion of the coach, but to also purchase vent covers, wheel covers, mirror bras and wiper covers. They were truly outfitted with an MCD coach!

A little background on the Longeway’s: They are retired Navy where they did lots of travel. They started out RVing in a Born Free and made trips from New Mexico, where they live, to Oregon and South Dakota. After liking the RV lifestyle, four years ago they decided to purchase a Class A Country Coach because “it gave us the room we need for future full-timing. Now with the MCD shades, we are one more ‘big step’ closer to realizing that goal.” They are currently limited in their journeys, only traveling to Idaho, Arizona and Texas at this time.

Ken and Barbara were very happy with their MCD product install here in McKinney. “ A friendly, helpful staff and definitely pet friendly. We highly recommend MCD to others. Finally we can enjoy the views without the hassle of curtains and pleated shades! Thanks for the experience.”

Thank you for stopping into MCD for your new shades and other products. When you finally begin to full time, we are sure your purchases will pay for themselves in more comfort and convenience on your travels!

On The Lot with Jimmy and Shirley Mills

(The Mills)(Date: 9/15/10) When you’re on the road with a recreational vehicle for over 15 years, you get to see a lot of the country and know where you like to be. Jimmy and Shirley Mills have done their share of traveling and in doing so, they ended up in McKinney, Texas at the MCD factory. Their interest in MCD American Duo™ Shades stemmed from a visit they had with MCD Owner and CEO Dave Townsley. The Mills met him at the recent FMCA Redmond Rally and, after discussing their next shade purchase, Dave suggested they come to Texas for the installation. They agreed and pulled into our lot with their 2005 Fleetwood Bounder a few weeks later.

We asked Jimmy and Shirley about their travels and they said they like the coast of Washington State and Oregon State. They also like the mountains of North Carolina. They chose their Bounder because of its floor plan, which included a mid-entry door. It was more convenient for them.

Jimmy and Shirley said they were very happy with the shade installation here at the factory. We were glad to see their smiling faces On the Lot! Thank you for choosing MCD American Duo™ Shades for your coach.

On The Lot with Don and Mauricia Hannaman

(The Hannaman's)(Date: 9/3/10) Don and Mauricia arrived at the MCD lot with their 2001 American Eagle Class A motorhome and were ready for a complete “make-over” with new American Duo™ Day/Night shades in the house and windshield of their American Coach. The third family member is a gray cat named Isaac. Isaac is a unique cat because he went in and out of the motorhome as he pleased without a leash. He did like to be petted though!

The Hannaman’s have owned a recreational vehicle for 13 years and since 2006, when they retired, they spend a lot of time on the road. Mauricia commented, “We chose the RV lifestyle to see America, have our own “stuff” and be on our own schedule. We’ve toured the Southwest, Southeast, the Great Lakes and spent winters in Arizona.” They said they have had their share of on-the-road events but they have also had “such good times, met new friends and love being on the road”!

Don and Mauricia were very happy with their installation here at the MCD factory . . . “What a pleasant experience! There is no one-size-fits-all (shade) but rather MCD measures carefully, installs with precision and patience and the friendly and dedicated staff made this a most satisfying experience. Thanks to each of you!!"

Not only did the Hannaman’s get interior shades, they also decided to get wheel covers for their coach. You were great folks to have on the lot and we wish you well on your travels. Come back and see us sometime.

On The Lot with Leonard and Argyle Malecha

(The Malecha's)(Date: 9/3/10) The Malecha’s, who hail from Arizona, pulled into the lot with their 2010 Itasca Sanova motorhome late in August. They were here at the factory getting their entire coach outfitted with MCD American Duo™ Day/Night shades. This also included the powered windshield shades.

Leonard and Argyle along with their dog, Missy Ann, were at the recent Winnebago Rally in Forest City, Iowa. They saw MCD shades in the new Winnebago models and knew they wanted the easy functioning and great looking shades in their new motorhome. They decided to take a trip to McKinney, Texas and get them installed.

When asked what their favorite travel destinations were, Leonard replied, “Going to rallies. We are also going to Florida in December so we can pick some fresh fruit in the orchards there.” The Malecha’s enjoy traveling to different states and just relaxing!

They were very happy with their shade installation and decided to get wheel covers as well. Their final comment was that our installer, Andrew, was “top notch”!

We are glad you enjoyed your visit to our new factory location and know the new day/night shades will be appreciated when down in the sunny south!

On The Lot with John and Penny Repp

(The Repp's)(Date: 8/31/10) The Repp’s and their dog MO (short for MOPAR), arrived in McKinney late in August. They were driving a 40’ 2003 Alpine Class A coach. Since MCD “appears to be the best product available” according to John, they wanted American Duo™ Day/Night shades for the coach and the same for their windshield. John and Penny had ordered the shades at an earlier time so, when the Repp's arrived, the shades were build and ready for installation.

John, being a bit of a handyman, elected to install the house shades himself.  MCD techs installed the windshield in their coach. We have found more and more people choosing to install their manual house shades themselves.

As far as traveling, the Repp’s tour all of the U.S. and Canada. They like to drive on secondary roads and spend time in small towns, enjoying what they have to offer. John said, “On long trips we plan a destination with NO scheduled arrival time.” They like their Alpine for its quality and mid-entry door in a diesel pusher motorhome. John and Penny have been RVers for 30 years and are currently full timers.

A final note, John said they were pleased with the appearance, efficiency and quality of the MCD product. Also the personal care and consideration each employee gave them was appreciated. “MCD was extremely accommodating and we appreciated the knowledge of the technicians,” John commented.

We hope you both will enjoy your travels and come back and visit us again when near McKinney, Texas. Hey John…Want a job installing MCD shades?

On The Lot with Alice and Richard Johnson

(The Johnson's)(Date: 8/30/10) The Johnson’s drove their 2006 Fleetwood Bounder into the MCD lot to get a new look for their coaches interior. A look which involved removing their pleated shades in the house portion of the coach and installing new MCD Day/Night shades. They were excited about the changeover because they wanted MCD shades ever since they saw them at the Fleetwood Rally in Du Quoin, Illinois on many other coaches. Alice and Richard also decided to have the entire cockpit, including the windshield, fitted with MCD shades.

Retired with a home on the water with a boat and pool in Florida, the Johnson’s love RVing. They love it because of the interesting people you meet on the road. “We can stay as long as we want and get to know the locals and areas,” said Alice. “Conversation is not all about pasts, grandchildren (of which we have 31 between us), eating out or illnesses. We talk about places we’ve seen and want to see and we share ideas and how to care for our RV homes.”

Richard and Alice like to travel out west. “For us, the west offers the best places to see and relax and also the shortest distances to drive between places. Love the National Parks and staying there to attend the Ranger Programs. We also like visiting friends and family wherever we go. We spend from three to five months in the summer on the road.” The couple has been RVing for 25 years!

Alice mentioned that they were “very happy” with their new MCD Shades. “Peggy and Jim made our stay fun as we shared happy hour and visited with them and others here at MCD getting work done.”

We enjoyed having you both “on the lot” and wish you a safe journey. Enjoy your new products from MCD on your travels…
