On The Lot with Bill and Marilyn Childs
(Date: 12/15/11) Hailing from Cross Hill, South Carolina, Bill and Marilyn Childs brought their 2011 Fleetwood Southwind to the MCD factory to have new day/night shades fitted to their motorhome door to match all the other MCD shades they have in their coach. “We’ve had an exceptionally good experience with your MCD products as well as your service staff.”
The Childs have been RVing since 1998. “Bill was a pilot and I was an educational administrator. After retiring, we wanted to see American “up close and personal”. We’ve logged over 98,000 miles in our first RV, a 1998 Bounder; and recently traded for our 2011 Southwind. We selected a Class A RV because I have to get up and stretch more often than Bill does, and the Class A facilitates this easily.”
“In our travels we’ve made many new friends, met a lot of wonderful people and pets, seen beautiful places and had interesting experiences (mostly good ones!). Our favorite place to visit (after the grandkids) is Grand Teton National Park in Jackson, Wyoming. While there, we’ve had Moose and Buffalo immediately outside our RV door. They actually held us captive for a while. We also love the rugged beauty of the Oregon Coast and the Maine Coast. Every part of this great country of ours has its own beauty and diversity - something new to experience and enjoy!”
Bill and Marilyn, we hope your exciting adventures continue and your MCD shades make RV life more pleasant and comfortable as you travel across this big continent. |

On The Lot with Richard Evans and Mary Hund
(Date: 11/28/11) Richard and Mary cruised into the MCD lot originally looking for a cockpit installation of MCD American Duo™ Day/Night Shades. While here, they made the decision to get their entire 2007 Holiday Rambler Ambassador retrofitted with the MCD roller shades. They also purchased a skylight cover for their shower area.
Richard and Mary, along with their four year old Sennauzer, Duke, first saw MCD shades at the 419 Diesel Pushers Rally in Goshen. Indiana in the Spring of 2011. After visiting new coaches during the rally, they noticed the windshield shade was full length across the coach with no “gaps” for the sun to shine through. They wanted the same thing for their coach so a trip to the MCD factory was planned.
Richard and Mary met when Richard’s sister, Betty, first introduced them in 1999 at a singles function. “We felt we had much in common and a wonderful relationship developed quickly. We quickly became best friends. Richard was a long-time RVer and I was a novice”, said Mary. “We bought a 36 foot Journey in 2000, traded for a 38 foot Endeavor in 2002 and our current 2007 Ambassador in the same year. Richard and I both enjoy the four slides and king-sized bed. I love the floor plan and the kitchen area works great for baking, which I enjoy. We bought a trailer last year and haul our Goldwing trike. We added the small car this year. We lave riding the trike along country roads with friends. Our little buddy, Duke, loves RV travel too.”
Richard and Mary’s final comments mentioned their stay at here. “We really enjoyed our stay at MCD and we are really happy with our new shades.”
We appreciate your business and believe you will have many fond memories of your trips. We know your MCD shades will make things more comfortable for all three of you. |

On The Lot with Luther and Carolyn Buford
(11/15/11) Luther and Carolyn Buford have been camping for 43 years and married for 48 years and call Kansas City, Missouri home. They started out with a small travel trailer and migrated to larger travel trailers over the years, a Class A motor home then to a couple fifth wheels, and finally back to Class A motor home. The last six years they have traveled in their 2005 Mountain Aire.
A friend who attended a FMCA convention in Perry, Georgia called them to suggest that they look at the MCD products. They were able to see a demonstration of the MCD products and talked to several MCD representatives at the FMCA convention in Madison this year. Both Luther and Carolyn were impressed with the look and ease of operation of the MCD shades.
After this convention, Luther and Carolyn decided that they really wanted to replace their front privacy curtains. So, they journeyed to McKinney and were firmly committed to having their windshield and cockpit windows converted to MCD products. However, en route to McKinney they started to discuss “Why not have MCD shades installed in the entire coach.” After meeting with Peggy they made up their minds to have their entire coach converted to MCD shades. Their decision was further fortified after attending a tour led by Dave, the MCD owner, and hearing his presentation about their products and his vision of the company’s future.
The Buford’s have been retired for over fifteen years. Luther retired from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department and after retirement worked for the U.S. Marshalls. Before retiring, Carolyn worked at a major Telecommunications Company in various IT positions for over 30 years.
They along with their dog Abby travel over 9 months a year in their motor home attending various RV conventions and rallies throughout the US. They are also active in several local RV organizations and try to join them for most of their monthly camp outs. During the winter months, Luther, Carolyn and Abby can be found in either Arizona or Texas or anywhere in between where the weather is warm. When time permits between conventions, rallies and camp outs, Luther and Carolyn try to find time to go trout fishing in Missouri. Luther is an avid sports fan and Carolyn classifies herself as a amateur photographer.
They are looking forward to enjoying their MCD shades during their travels. |

On The Lot with Rich and Linda Cotterall
(Date: 10/27/11) Rich and Linda Cotterall and their dog, Rusty, arrived at MCD with their 2005 Monaco Knight to have their older MCD American Duo™ Day/Night Shades updated to the new Generation IV version. The Gen IV shade assemblies have an adjustable spring tension wheel on one end and an upper limit adjustment wheel on the other. These user friendly, color coded adjustment wheels give the customer the ability to fine tune each shade to their liking.
Rich and Linda have had MCD shades for many years and are very happy with the product, which they had put in just after they purchased their new coach. This is the third Class A coach the Cotterall’s have had, Before that, they started with tent camping, then small trailers, a big trailer, a truck camper and a Class C camper before moving to a motorhome. “We have been married for 45 years and have been RVing since we were first married! We are both born and raised in Southern California in the Simi Valley.”
“We travel to Monaco America Rallies twice a year all over the USA.” Rich is a retired Fire Captain from the Los Angeles Fire Department and he has 43 years in fire service. They have three children and eight grandkids!
Rich and Linda’s final comment was that they were very happy with the new MCD shade upgrade, “Tremaine was excellent installing our shades!”
Good luck and happy travels to you both. Thank you for continuing to support MCD and we look forward to seeing you at a future rally. |

On The Lot with Chuck and Carol Genrich
(Date: 10/20/11) Traveling from Clever, Missouri to the MCD factory were Chuck and Carol Genrich. They came to MCD to have American Duo™ Day/Night Shades installed in their 2008 Itasca Horizon Class A motorhome. Installation of shades in the cockpit and living room area began shortly after their coach was measured by MCD technicians.
We asked why they chose MCD. The Genrich’s said, “MCD has demonstrated that they have a quality product with exceptional engineering. The customer service and installation process is also outstanding!”
We found out that Chuck is a retired Naval Aviator and Carol worked with computer software and is an exceptional cook. “We spend our winters in Florida and the rest of the year traveling for pleasure and to RV rallies. We selected our Winnebago Diesel coach because of their reputation and our extended time in the coach. Because of military service and our RV, we have lived in and visited most of this country. We enjoy seeing all of the various parts of the U.S. from the Corn Palace in South Dakota to the desert of Death Valley to the sunset in Key West!”
Both Chuck and Carol were very happy with their shade installation. They left MCD knowing that their American Duo™ shades would make their continued explorations even more pleasurable.

On The Lot with Kay and Ted Watts
(Date: 10/10/11) Kay and Ted Watts joined us on the MCD lot with their 2007 Alpine coach for an installation of new American Duo™ Day/Night Shades, both in the living area and the cockpit. “We had seen advertisements (for the shades) and talked to Reps at the shows but it was actually seeing them installed in other coaches, our brand and Tiffin’s, that convinced Ted it was really great!”
The Watts travel eight to nine months a year, avoiding very hot or very cold temperatures. “We enjoy visiting National Parks and historic sites, state capitols, museums and exploring scenic byways and roads off the interstates. When we began RVing, we bought a National Parks Passport book and began our quest to visit all motorhome accessible sites listed. There are over 390 now and we have visited over 300! Along the way we’ve seen how beautiful the U.S. is and have made lasting friendships with some of the folks we met in our travels.
Kay and Ted were very happy with their American Duo™ Shade install. “Brandon did an excellent job installing our shades. We like the look and feel that it gives our coach. All the staff made us feel welcome, from our arrival to checkout. MCD is very attentive to detail and customer satisfaction!”
Thank you for the kind words and good times we spent with you in the MCD lot. Have fun while visiting the 89 or so parks you have remaining on your quest!

They call Las Vegas, Nevada home and traveled to Texas to get their entire coach retrofitted with MCD American Duo™ Day/Night Shades. Jerry was doing the installation of the shades for the house portion of the coach and our factory installers were doing the cockpit shades. They chose MCD because, “Friends have them and are very happy with the shades. We fell in love with their shades and decided to get them also.”
Jerry and Ruth have been camping for over 45 years! “We went the whole gamut…from tent, truck camper, travel trailer, fifth-wheel to a Class A gas rig and then a Class A diesel for the last 15 years. It’s the only way to go now!”
“Our favorite annual destination is Branson, Missouri. We also love to go to music festivals, including jazz, bluegrass and country. We attend motorhome conventions and rallies. We’ve made a lot of great friends the last five years since we retired and had more time to travel.”
